Media martyr? Let's review...

Internet Kidney Donor Glad He Donated With a potential movie/book deal in the offing, this individual has assumed the self-proclaimed title of "media martyr." The last time I checked a dicitonary, the word martyr was reserved for a person who was killed as a result of their religious/spiritual beliefs. Dicitonary.com definition of "martyr" martyr: \Mar"tyr\, n. [AS., from L. martyr, Gr. ma`rtyr, ma`rtys, prop., a witness; cf. Skr. sm[.r] to remember, E. memory.] 1. One who, by his death, bears witness to the truth of the gospel; one who is put to death for his religion; 2. Hence, one who sacrifices his life, his station, or what is of great value to him, for the sake of principle, or to sustain a cause. Does he honestly believe that he's being persecuted for his selfless motives? Was the $5000 in so-called expense money given, even in part, to offset his daughter's medical expenses? Come now, Mr. Smitty, you don't really expect us to be that gullible, now do you? Or perhaps you do...pity.
