CNN.com - The disaster response: 'Magnificent' or 'embarrassment'? - Sep 2, 2005 Just as "disasater" and "devastation" cannot begin to describe the horror that has become New Orleans, it is a disgrace to even consider the idea that the federal government has done anything even remotely constructive to help the citizens of its own country. Our elected ("purchased" and "hand-picked" are probably a bit more accurate) officials are busy patting each other on the ass, congratulating themselves while thousands of people along the Gulf coast haven't had anything to eat or drink in days, not to mention that their lives and homes have been washed completely away. My heart hurts with the pain of knowing how deeply wounded our country is right now, and how things will never be the same.
