So long, farewell, etcetera...

Users find .Mac underwhelming, overpriced After eight or so years with the same dot mac address, watching it go from "free lifetime email" to subscription, and waiting for something, ANYTHING to justify a hundred bucks a year, I'm quitting. No more, thank you very much. I'm done with the crappy email service (ie, spam from all directions), the ultra-slow idisk, and the general lack of return on the what I've spent (actually, wasted). If you, too, are fed up--one caution: figuring out how to cancel your account is the worst runaround of all. The dot mac website, the apple support website, the emails from apple...NONE offer any clues as to how to get their hands out of your credit card account each year with their oh-so-convenient automatic renewal. Solution? Remove the automatic renewal on your account page at dotmac (keep digging, you'll find it eventually), save the change, and cross your fingers. It's not like they have a tech support number that you can call and make sure the change was recorded...heck no, that would be too much like customer service, and we can't have that, now can we, apple? PFFT...
